Szijjarto: Peacemaking achievements must be preserved in Middle East
Achievements in peacemaking in the Middle East must be preserved, the foreign minister said after meeting his Bahrain counterpart Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani on Tuesday.
Peter Szijjarto said on Facebook that Zayani was a key player in the peacemaking process in the Middle East.
“He made a historic act in 2020 when he signed the Abraham Accords with Israel,” Szijjarto said. The agreement brought the hope for sustainable peace in the Middle East after decades of suffering, he added.
He said the horrific events of recent says posed a threat to the achievements of past peacemaking efforts.
“We were in agreement with my friend Abdullatif today that past achievements must be preserved, successes must not be forgotten, and all global efforts must be focused on preventing escalation and an accompanying humanitarian crisis,” he said.
