Minister expresses condolences to Oman over floods
Peter Szijjarto, the minister of foreign affairs and trade, has expressed his sympathies to the Omani Sultanate over floods that killed 21 people, and thanked the country for freeing two Hungarian nationals who had been stranded by the waters.
“I was greatly saddened to hear about the consquences of the devastating weather ravaging the Omani Sultanate lately. I was shocked to hear the floods have claimed the lives of 21 people, 12 children among them,” Szijjarto said in a letter to his Omani counterpart, Sayyid Badr Al-Busaidi.
Szijjarto also expressed his thanks to Omani authorities for their “indefatiguable rescue work when they airlifted two stranded Hungarian nationals to safety.”
“We are deeply grateful for their heroic work under those extraordinary circumstances,” Szijjarto said.
