Kovacs: Allowing armament, soldiers to cross Hungary ‘not a matter of compromise’
"It is not a matter of compromise, it is not a matter of opinions" that Hungary will not allow weapons and soldiers through the Hungary-Ukraine border, Zoltan Kovacs, the state secretary for international communications, said in an interview broadcast by Sky News Arabia.
In response to a question concerning why Hungary would not fulfil demands by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, such as to allow weapons and soldiers through the border, Kovacs said “we stand on a very firm stand dating back and calling historical perspectives and lessons”.
“It’s a mandate that the prime minister has represented on behalf of the Hungarian people that cannot be questioned,” Kovacs said in the interview which he also posted on Facebook on Saturday.
