In the letter, Vanhanen expressed the Finnish parliament’s “most sincere appreciation” of the ratification.

The letter sent to MTI by the Hungarian parliament’s press office states: “The current critical geopolitical situation after Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine has brought our countries closer together than ever before. The NATO membership will further deepen the connection between Finland and Hungary.”

Vanhanen expressed hope that the two countries’ strong parliamentary cooperation would continue during the next parliamentary term and their partnership would strengthen in all fields.

He thanked Kover for “excellent cooperation” during his time in office as Speaker of Eduskunta, Finland’s parliament.

“Close ties and partnership between our two Parliaments and cooperation between Finnish and Hungarian Parliamentarians in interparliamentary organizations will remain a top priority on the new Parliament’s agenda,” Vanhanen said.
