New attraction in the capital of Balaton
Balatonfüred is the ‘capital’ on the northern shore of Lake Balaton and the oldest holiday resort in the area. In addition to its location on Lake Balaton with its large sailing harbour, the town is primarily known for its carbon dioxide springs, villas and cultural and sporting events.
The town has now built a new beach called the ‘Golden Bridge’ (Aranyhíd). The town of Balatonfüred acquired this 8,000 m2 of previously unused land in 2020. As the second phase of a major project, two new buildings were completed there with 600 million forints from EU funds, the first phase of which was used to develop the beach area.
From the next bathing season, it will be possible to stroll along a length of around 1.5 kilometres with an unobstructed view of the lake. One of the newly completed buildings will house a restaurant and the lifeguard service, while the other will offer communal areas for up to two hundred people that can be used all year round, as well as changing rooms and toilets as a service in high summer.
The location of the restaurant building was deliberately chosen so that it offers a panoramic view of Lake Balaton. The restaurant and community centre are open all year round.
