Nobel Prize-winner tapped to advise on science policy

Ferenc Krausz, the Nobel Prize-winning physicist, will serve as the chief advisor on science policy to Culture and Innovation Minister Balazs Hanko from October 1, the ministry said on Wednesday.

As chief advisor for science policy, Krausz’s contribution to bolstering Hungarian science and research will grow, the ministry said. He will be tasked with bringing back home outstanding Hungarian researchers working abroad, it added.

Krausz will resign from his position as the head of the Research Excellency Council, effective September 30, to avoid any conflict of interest.
