Vaccination total to exceed 1 million on Sunday
The number of Hungarians inoculated against coronavirus is set to exceed one million by Sunday night, including 100,000 receiving the shot this weekend, Zoltan Kovacs, state secretary for international communications, told public media on Saturday.
Kovacs said the vaccination of people registered for the jab was under way in line with the government’s national inoculation plan. He added Hungary’s vaccination rate was the second highest in the European Union, with a chance of becoming first.
“We are doing everything to ensure that those registered are inoculated as soon as possible,” Kovacs said. He noted that apart from vaccines purchased through the European Union, Hungary was using the Sinopharm and Sputnik V vaccines too, “allowing the country to proceed faster than the rest of Europe”.
