United opposition deputy leader praises ‘enormous achievement’
The united opposition, alongside its activists and the voters, "did a tremendous job" in the general election, the deputy head of the Everyone's Hungary Movement said at an event after the polls closed on Sunday.
Katalin Lukacsi said the election was a celebration of democracy and United for Hungary, the coalition of opposition parties.
She said that although the results were not in yet, “it is clear that the united opposition and the ruling party alliance are neck and neck.”
She said it was “a massive achievement” that the united opposition had managed to “stand its ground on a playing field which clearly favoured Fidesz, the ruling party — essentially the state party.”
