Trade surplus widens to EUR 1.6 billlion in June

Hungary's trade surplus widened to 1.568 billion euros in June from 1.153 billion in May, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said in a second reading of data on Friday.

Exports grew by an annual 12.6 percent, to 13.565 billion euros, while imports contracted by 4.1 percent, to 11.997 billion.

Hungary’s terms of trade improved by 5.4 percent, with the forint firming by 6.6 percent to the euro and 8.9 percent to the dollar.

Trade with other European Union member states accounted for 77 percent of Hungary’s exports and 71 percent of its imports during the month.

In January-June, Hungary’s exports increased by 11.5 percent year on year, to 77.449 billion euros, while imports rose by 1.3 percent, to 73.086 billion. The trade surplus was 4.363 billion euros.
