Teachers’ union PSZ calls on lawmakers to reject amendment proposal
PSZ said maintaining an earlier decree on providing minimum services during a strike was “particularly unfriendly”, arguing that the law, if approved, would overall bloc the unions from initiating talks on such services.
Under Hungarian law consultations must be held with social partners before passing legislation, PSZ said in a statement, adding that no such consultations had taken place with the government. “This suggests that the new government again does not consider trade unions a partner for negotiations,” PSZ said, insisting that the right to strike is a fundamental right.
Parliament’s legislative committee will discuss the motion on Thursday.
