Szijjarto: Matter of crude supply shouldn’t be ‘politicised’

Szijjarto said that Hungary, as an importer of crude, was affected just as much by the decisions of transit countries as it was by those of oil producing countries. He added that the sides were in full agreement that no country had the right to undermine another country’s energy security by monopolising a transit pipeline or using it for political purposes, endangering crude supply.

Szijjarto said he had informed the OPEC secretary general that two of Hungary’s neighbours had recently put the country in a difficult position with regard to crude supply with their “politically-based decisions”.

Haitham al-Ghais expressed full solidarity with Hungary and the sides agreed to cooperate in future on sending the message that energy “is not a political matter but a physical one”, he added.
