Szijjarto: Hungary working to free the last Hungarian hostage

Ahead of a meeting with members of the Israeli government in Jerusalem on Wednesday, Peter Szijjarto, the foreign minister, said that Hungary was working to ensure that the last Hungarian hostage held by Hamas is freed.

He also wrote that Hungary stood by Israel’s right to defend itself, and he also hoped that the conflict would not spread to other countries.

Szijjarto wrote on social media that his agenda today included meetings with Israel’s current and former foreign ministers, Israel Katz and Eli Cohen, and they would assess the current situation and possible avenues of future development.

He noted that the conflict in Gaza had so far lasted for one hundred days and that Israel had suffered “a brutal terrorist attack, one that must never be repeated anywhere in the world.” He added that the success of counter-terrorist operations was in the interest of Israel and the wider world, too.
