Szazadveg poll: Fidesz maintains lead

If elections were held this Sunday, the ruling Fidesz-Christian Democrat coalition would garner 42 percent of the votes, while an allied opposition would receive 25 percent, pollster Szazadveg said on Friday.

If parties of the opposition decided on running individually, Fidesz would garner 40 percent, to be followed by the satyrical Two-tailed Dog party with 11 percent, and leftist Democratic Coalition and radical Mi Hazank 9 percent each, the report said. Momentum would receive 8 percent, Jobbik and LMP two percent each, and the Socialist Party and Parbeszed one percent each, Szazadveg added.

Some 12 percent of those polled would not answer or did not know which party they would prefer.

The survey was conducted in March on a sample of 1,000 adults.
