Selmeczi: Child protection ‘must not be used for daily political fights’
"The protection of our children must not be used as a tool in daily political battles," Gabriella Selmeczi, an MP of ruling Fidesz, said in her address opening the general debate on the second package of child protection laws in the assembly on Tuesday.
The package submitted by the governing parties is aimed at amending 22 acts, the lawmaker said, adding that “the proposal is not without antecedents: the government has been working in the interest of the protection of children through cycles”. She slammed the leftist opposition for rejecting to support the first package and called on the opposition to vote in favour of the second one.
