See how Hungary celebrated the 65th anniversary of the uprising – Gallery

Hungary's national flag was hoisted in front of the Parliament building on Saturday, in a state commemoration marking the anniversary of the anti-Soviet revolt which started on October 23, 1956. During the day, a series of commemorations were held across the country to pay tribute to heroes of the failed revolution and freedom fight.

Supporters of the pro-government Civic Union Forum (COF) and associated COKA foundation gathered to hold their Peace March and on the corner of Andrassy Avenue and Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Road, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán addressed the crowd. The opposition held a commemorative event near Heroes’ Square, at the other end of Andrassy Avenue.
