Ruling parties vote for Novak’s candidacy for president
Deputies of the ruling Fidesz-Christian Democrat parties held a formal vote to support the nomination of Katalin Novak, formerly the minister in charge of family affairs, as the next president of the republic, Fidesz's parliamentary group leader said on Thursday.
Speaking after an away meeting of the ruling parties at Balatonfured, in western Hungary, Mate Kocsis said the nomination had been supported unanimously.
Parliament is scheduled to elect the next president on March 10.
