Romanian human smuggler sentenced to three years in prison
The district court of Sarvar in western Hungary sentenced a Romanian man in a final ruling to three years in prison and banned him from Hungary for six years for transporting seven Syrians, including a two-year-old child, to the Austrian border last month, the Vas County prosecutor's office said on Tuesday.
The smuggler picked up the migrants who were in Hungary illegally near Morahalom in southern Hungary on July 23 and transported five people in the passenger area and another two in the boot, deputy chief prosecutor Tamas Szekely said.
Police stopped the car near the village of Karako on main road 8, he said. Only a few days earlier, the same man had been stopped transporting five illegal migrants to the western border, he added.
