President Novak meets IOC head in Lausanne

Hungarian President Katalin Novak met Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), for talks in Lausanne on Thursday.

At their talks, they discussed the situation of the Hungarian Olympic Committee (MOB) and preparations for next year’s Games in Paris including the possibility for Russian and Belorussian athletes to participate as independent Olympians, the president of MOB told journalists in IOC headquarters.

“The fact that President Katalin Novak has paid a visit to the IOC and held extensive talks with its president illustrates how much Hungary is respected here; and sports in Hungary is strong, we have always been a nation of sports,” Zsolt Gyulai said, noting that President Novak likes sports and is active doing it herself.

The Hungarian president will later in the day meet President of the Swiss Confederation Alain Berset and address the Swiss Economic Forum.
