Parbeszed calls for extended evictions moratorium
Opposition Parbeszed has proposed that a moratorium on evictions should be introduced before winter and maintained until the end of the economic crisis.
Holding an online press conference on Friday, Parbeszed MP Andras Jambor cited a recent case in which a woman was evicted from her municipally owned apartment in central Budapest after she had failed to pay arrears of 300,000 forints (EUR 708).
Jambor cited the law on municipalities as saying that “no municipality shall make residents homeless” adding that the government of
District 5 had offered the evicted woman a bed at a homeless shelter.
