Paks upgrade on schedule
The project to expand Hungary's sole nuclear power plant in Paks remains on schedule and has not been effected by the coronavirus pandemic, the minister without portfolio responsible for overseeing the project said.
The Paks investment has seen significant progress over the course of the past year, Janos Suli told parliament’s economic committee.
Hungary has entrusted Russia’s Rosatom with installing state-of-the-art blocks at the power plant and considers the facility’s security its top priority, Suli said.
The National Atomic Energy Authority (OAH) is expected to issue the implementation permit for the project in the autumn of 2021 and the permit for the earth works is expected to be issued in the spring, he said.
