Official: Hungary ‘safe place’ for conservatives
Hungary has made itself a "safe place for conservatives", the prime minister's political director told a conference organised by the Heritage Foundation, in Washington, DC.
Balazs Orban, the only foreign speaker at the Leadership Summit conference, talked about the achievements of Hungary’s family policy, noting that marriages in the country have doubled and divorces have halved. Abortions have also halved without any changes to legal regulations, he added.
As regards the debate on the perception of families, Orban said “the father is a man and the mother a woman”, adding this was the end of the discussion in Hungary.
The conference was also addressed by Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts and Republican Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri, among other members of the US Congress.
