Official: Households will continue to enjoy energy subsidies during heating season
Subsidies for household utility bills first introduced in 2013 will remain in force during the winter heating season, a ministry of energy affairs official said on Friday.
Most natural gas reserves are 97 percent full, and even if this winter is colder than average, capacities will be sufficient, Zsofia Koncz told public television.
The government is maintaining the fund for ensuring household energy subsidies while also handing local governments 76 billion forints (EUR 197m) of similar aid this year, she said. As much as 83 billion forints is allocated for this purpose in next year’s budget, she added.
