New dual carriageway to connect Hungary, Austria
Hungary and Austria have signed an agreement to connect Hungary's M80 and Austria's S7 dual carriageway at Szentgotthard, the construction and transport ministry said on Tuesday.
The new link, to be completed next year, will contribute to improved traffic flows in central Europe and strengthen the Hungarian economy, the ministry said in a statement.
The M80 road from Kormend to the Austrian border completed in 2021 has helped divert traffic from residential areas while providing access to industrial facilities, it added.
