Momentum to launch signature drive for education
The opposition Momentum is launching a signature drive "in the interest of public education", MEP Anna Donath said on Wednesday.
Donath told a press conference in Budapest’s Szena Square that the party is asking “all members of society” to support their earlier initiative that the European Commission should tie the payment of EU funds for Hungary to the fulfilment of three demands of teachers and students.
The government must raise teachers’ wages by 50 percent immediately, scrap a recently drafted bill on changing teachers’ employment status, and draft a comprehensive education reform, she said.
