Ministry: Hungary-Georgia agriculture ties on the upswing

Istvan Nagy, the minister of agriculture, highlighted the opportunities in agricultural cooperation between Hungary and Georgia, after meeting Tamara Liluashvili, Georgia's ambassador to Hungary, on Monday.

Nagy pointed out seed production as an area of cooperation, saying Hungary was prepared to ship high-quality crop seeds to Georgia so that they could be cultivated and exported to other eastern markets, the ministry said in a statement.

He proposed that Georgian experts visit Hungary to study local agricultural methods and technologies, and highlighted the potential in boosting ties between universities and research institutes.

Nagy praised Georgia’s beekeepers, saying Hungary could help the Caucasian country export its honey to European Union markets.

The minister highlighted the rich heritage of Georgia’s grape and wine culture, saying Hungary was prepared to share its expertise and technology in this area with Georgia as well.

Noting the ongoing developments in Hungary’s food and manufacturing sectors, Nagy underlined the opportunities presented by Georgian raw materials.
