Mi Hazánk boss deleted from the virtual world

The Meta Group continues to adhere to its questionable business model of ‘limited democracy’.

The chairman of the right-wing Mi Hazánk party, which is represented in parliament, announced on Tuesday that his Facebook page had been deleted after just one week. According to the opposition politician, the company is relying on ‘vague and completely subjective community principles’. László Toroczkai was also certified as being ‘still categorised as a dangerous person in 2024’. ‘As the leader of a parliamentary party, I am the democratic voice of hundreds of thousands of Hungarians; this is an attack against my supporters.’

The Meta Group is also interfering in the election campaign, which reminds the Mi Hazánk politician of the case of TikTok in Romania. The presidential elections there have just been completely annulled because the TikTok algorithm unduly favoured one candidate. In Hungary, however, Meta went even further by ‘deleting’ a politician from the virtual world. Mi Hazánk has been at the mercy of this unequal battle against the global corporation for six years now.

According to Toroczkai, Meta had also ‘cynically lied’ when it was claimed that a final judgement by Hungarian courts could not be enforced for technical reasons. As a result, the party leader was also ‘switched off’ on Instagram, even a year and a half after the ruling in his favour. ‘In this way, the tech company is making it clear that it is above our laws and spitting on Hungarian democracy.’ Mi Hazánk wants to use all legal means to defend itself against the arbitrariness of the Meta Group.
