Menczer: ‘We will not be dragged into war!’

The Hungarian government and the ruling parties "support peace; we will not be dragged into the war", Tamas Menczer, the communications director of the ruling Fidesz-Christian Democrat alliance, said in a video on Wednesday.

“Hungarians do not like it if others interfere with their life and try to make decisions for them … but we can see just that in the case of David Pressman, the US ambassador to Hungary, and when foreign pressure is exerted on Hungary,” Menczer said in his video posted on Facebook. Hungarians have clearly expressed their opinion on the war “in the general election, the National Consultation survey, and in referendums … and they think it is currently the most dangerous challenge,” he said, adding that “the situation is getting worse by the day”.

Concerning a recent NATO proposal and “political statements about sending troops, about nuclear weapons…”, Menczer said “Hungarians have indicated that they do not want that”.

“Mr. Pressman is for war … be it young or old, I don’t think anybody would want to go to this war and die,” he said.
