Marki-Zay, Gyurcsany share responsibility for election wipe-out – Nezopont
The Nezopont Institute, in a post-election survey, has found that the majority of active voters saw Peter Marki-Zay and Ferenc Gyurcsany as equally responsible for the left-wing's ballot fizzle.
The telephone survey of 1,000 people conducted between April 11 and 13, published on Tuesday, found that Gyurcsany, the leader of the Democratic Coalition, was seen as slightly more responsible on a scale of 1 to 5 (3.9) compared with the united opposition’s prime ministerial candidate (3.4).
Left-wing voters also found the former Socialist premier more to blame (3.4) than the mayor of Hodmezovasarhely (3), Nezopont said.
Tensions within the opposition coalition are reflected in the finding that two-thirds of left-wing voters were split down the middle over which of the two politicians should be held responsible for the election drubbing.
