Magyar announces new symbol for Tisza Party

Party chairman Péter Magyar announced that from 1 October the flag with the 1956 hole will be the symbol of the Tisza Party.

‘The independent, sovereign Hungary of today would not exist without the patriotism and sacrifice of our heroes of 1956,’ he said. According to Magyar, Hungarians should always be proud and grateful that the heroes of 1956 did what the fatherland demanded.

‘Hungary is not the country of Antal Rogán, István Tiborcz and Balázs Orbán, but of János Hunyadi, István Dobó, Ilona Tóth and Matyi Lúdas. Of course we know that this flag is also the symbol of a free Hungary. We will not appropriate it, as Fidesz has done with our national symbols in the past. But we will also not allow some political directors to desecrate it,’ Magyar emphasised in the social media, referring to the scandalous words of Balázs Orbán, political director of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, in connection with 1956 and Ukraine in an interview last week.
