LMP: State pay rises leave out many

LMP welcomes a 15 percent pay rise for the employees of state-owned companies, but believes it is unfortunate that people in social work and in law enforcement, as well as teachers, have been "left out", an MP of the opposition party said at a press conference on Facebook on Sunday.

Peter Ungar said the 15 percent pay rise would not be sufficient to prevent attrition at state-owned postal company Magyar Posta. He added that teachers’ pay is “as low as it was before the pandemic”, while social workers got neither a pay rise nor a bonus, and salaries in law enforcement “are still bad”.

Ungar said that people working in “important state sectors” could “finally get the respect they deserve” if there is a change of government.
