LMP: Social spending in 2024 draft budget ‘lamentable’
Social spending allocations in the government's draft budget for 2024 are "lamentable", a spokeswoman for opposition LMP said on Sunday.
Krisztina Hohn told a press conference that increases in standard spending allocations were “practically zero” in the draft. Meal subsidies have been raised by only 9 percent, while food price inflation is around 40 percent, and the standard subsidy for home care for the elderly has been raised by just a little over 10 percent, she said.
The amount earmarked for firewood subsidies and for cafeteria meals during school holidays is unchanged, she said.
LMP backs higher social spending and calls on the government to rethink standard social subsidies, she added.
