Lazar: Goal to make Hungary ‘best place in Europe by 2030’
Janos Lazar, the candidate for minister of construction and investment, said in a hearing before parliament's economic committee that his work would be to build the country so that Hungary should become the "best place in Europe by 2030".
Lazar said he would make investment faster and more efficient and make efforts to ensure that Hungarian architects get to prepare the designs and Hungarian companies carry out the construction work.
The government will decide what needs to be built and it will be the ministry’s task to oversee how they are built, he added.
Lazar said around 10,000 billion forints (EUR 26.3bn) worth of ongoing would fall in the scope of his ministry. He promised to prepare a new legal framework for state investment.
Rural Hungary will get more than before but Budapest will not get less, he said.
The committee supported Lazar’s nomination for the post with 13 votes in favour, one against and three abstentions.
