Kocsis: Ruling parties nominate MEP Laszlo Trocsanyi for top court head

The allied ruling Fidesz and Christian Democrats (KDNP) will nominate Laszlo Trocsanyi, the head of Hungarian Lawyers Association, to fill the post of the head of the Constitutional Court, Fidesz' group leader Mate Kocsis said on Facebook on Monday.

The nomination will be announced after the vote scheduled in parliament on the election of Tamas Sulyok, the top court’s outgoing president, as Hungary’s next head of state.

Trocsanyi, who recently announced that he is stepping down as a Fidesz MEP, was justice minister in the third and fourth cabinet of Viktor Orban between June 2014 and June 2019.
