Junior ruling party raises questions about Marki-Zay’s campaign spending
Lorinc Nacsa, the parliamentary spokesman of the junior ruling Christian Democrats, has raised questions about campaign spending by Peter Marki-Zay, prime ministerial candidate of the united opposition.
In a video message on Tuesday, Nacsa asked: “Where did Marki-Zay get 50 million forints (EUR 140,000) for his Facebook advertisements, and why did he fail to include that sum in his spending declaration?”
Nacsa quoted Marki-Zay as promising complete transparency regarding campaign spending. Yet, he added, Marki-Zay’s recent asset declaration have no explanation as to the source for those funds. “The left wing’s interpretation of transparency is like that,” he said.
Nacsa also asked why the advertisements had been published under Marki-Zay’s name if somebody else had paid for them.
