Jobbik proposes constitutional amendment to lower voting age
The opposition Jobbik party wants the voting age to be lowered to sixteen, a lawmaker of the nationalist conservative party said on Monday.
The party has submitted a bill with the aim that by the next general election in 2022 young people can cast ballots, Gyorgy Szilagyi, the party’s deputy leader, told an online press conference.
“We’ll be determining Hungary’s future for many years and decades ahead, so it’s important this choice is made as broadly and clearly as possible.”
