Interior ministry declares heat alert
With especially hot weather expected in the coming days, the authorities have declared a heat alert lasting until Wednesday evening, and measures include ensuring access to a safe place for the homeless and anyone else experiencing difficulties.
A national “red” heat alert was ordered twice in the recent period, while before that this only happened several years ago, the state secretary for welfare, Attila Fulop, told a press conference on Saturday.
Everyone is asked to take special care of themselves and to report any encounters with a homeless person on the street to the authorities, he said.
