Hungary sees new national, Budapest dawn heat record
The national and Budapest dawn heat record was broken on Sunday, meteorological service HungaroMet said on its website.
In Tatabanya, in northern Hungary, the mercury dropped to 22.1 degrees Celsius at dawn on Sunday at the Dozsakert weather station, breaking the 21.0 degree national dawn heat record measured in Tata in 1917 for that day.
In the capital city, a new dawn record of 21.2 degree was measured in Lagymanyos. The highest dawn temperature so far, 20 degrees, was measured in 1973 at the Budakeszi erdő station.
Budapest has seen heat records breaking for the 8th consecutive day on Sunday, HungaroMet said.
