Hungary marks anniversary of November 4, 1956, when anti-Soviet uprising was crushed
Hungary's parliament declared November 4 a national day of mourning in 2013.
The national flag of Hungary was hoisted and lowered to half-mast in front of Parliament on Monday morning, to mark the anniversary of November 4, 1956, when the anti-Soviet uprising was crushed.
The flag was lowered in a military ceremony in Kossuth Square, with Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky and Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff Lt.Gen. Ferenc Kajári attending.
The flag will remain at half-mast throughout the day.
