Hungary internet usage rate among top ten in EU

Around 88pc of Hungarians between the ages of 16 and 74 use the internet on a daily basis, a study by the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) shows.

The rate puts Hungary in tenth place among European Union member states, ahead of Austria, where the rate was 84pc, putting the country in 16th place, NMHH said.

Heading the ranking was the Netherlands, with an internet usage rate of close to 98pc. Denmark and Sweden were also frontrunners, with rates over 95pc.

Among Hungarians between the age of 55 and 74, just 71pc used the internet on a daily basis, well under rates of over 90pc in Scandinavian countries.

In terms of the scale of fibre optic infrastructure, Hungary was in twelfth place in the EU, the data from 2023 show.
