Hungarian state could buy back Budapest airport ‘at any moment’: PM

The Hungarian government intends to buy back Liszt Ferenc International Airport "and this could happen at any moment", Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told public media in Supljak (Ludas), in northern Serbia, on Monday.

“It is only right if our sole major international airport is in Hungarian ownership, so buying it back is the correct thing to do and the economy is strong enough for us to do that,” Orbán said during his visit, adding that the purchase “could be concluded at any moment”.

If reacquired by the state, the airport could undergo developments that would increase its value, and this way the value of the whole of Budapest, “by two or three classes”, Orbán said.
