Hungarian police arrest people smugglers near Bratislava

Hungarian police followed and stopped a car transporting illegal migrants near Bratislava on Tuesday, the Slovak news agency TASR said.

The Hungarian police followed the car in Hungary after it failed to stop at their request, a spokesperson of the Slovak police told the news agency. They contacted their Slovak colleagues when the car crossed into Slovakia at the Rajka-Rusovce (Oroszvar) border crossing, and stopped it near Bratislava.

The Gyor-Moson-Sopron County police headquarters confirmed the arrest. In a statement on the website, they said the Ukrainian driver and two passengers, who claimed to be Turkish, were arrested and handed over to Slovak immigration authorities.
