Hidveghi calls on Jourova to cease ‘hypocritical political attacks’
Hidveghi said in a video on Facebook on Thursday that the commissioner for transparency and values should launch a rule-of-law procedure against Malta “if democracy really matters to her”, rather than attacking right-wing Hungarian, Polish, Slovenian and Bulgarian governments that had been “elected by millions of people”.
He said that the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia in Malta clearly led to the doorstep of the left-wing government there.
The Fidesz MEP said the long-running investigation in Malta clearly indicated that a political assassination had been carried out that was connected to the highest level of left-wing Maltese government.
European left-wing groups, he said, ignored the issue and repeatedly tried to prevent the EP from putting it on the agenda. Hidveghi said this “kind of cynicism” was in itself “scandalous”, yet the same left-wing MEPs were simultaneously mendaciously attacking right-wing, Christian-Democratic governments.
