Heat record broken on Saturday
Southern Hungary experienced a hotter day today than ever on record, with the mercury reaching 18 degrees Celsius in Bekescsaba, the National Meteorological Service said on Facebook on Saturday.
The previous record was 17.4 C, recorded in Bekescsaba in 1959.
Elsewhere in the country it was properly wintery, the coldest place being Nagykutas in Zala County, western Hungary, where the peak temperature was -0.5 C.
