Gulyas: No plan for refugee camp near Austrian border
Hungary has no plans to set up a refugee camp in Vitnyed, near the Austrian border, Gergely Gulyas, the head of the Prime Minister's Office, said on Thursday.
Rejecting claims made in Austria, he said the government’s position was clear: “Hungary has protected Europe from migration up to the present and will continue to protect Europe, including Austria…”
Gulyas added that the town of Vitnyed would likely host student summer camps.
Hungary, he added, intended to protect its external borders, “and if Brussels forces us to accept migrants, a refugee camp must be set up, not at the Austrian border but … in the main square of Brussels.”
