Still much to be done to build widespread public trust in the vaccine
Growing number of health workers interested in vaccine
Some 2,000 health workers have already been vaccinated at Semmelweis University alone, Merkely told public news broadcaster M1, noting that the inoculation of Hungary’s health-care employees has been ongoing since Dec. 26.
Around 95 percent of the university’s doctors will accept the vaccine and the majority of the rest of the medical staff also wants to be vaccinated, Merkely said.
He added, at the same time, that there was still much to be done to build widespread public trust in the vaccine and achieve herd immunity against Covid-19 in the country. Not only does the vaccine minimise the chance of contracting the disease, but it also guarantees close to full protection against possible complications resulting from Covid-19, Merkely said.
