Government official: 2025 to see ‘substantial’ wage hike for teachers
2025 will see another "substantial" wage hike for teachers, and the government will ensure that wages keep their buying power, the state secretary for education said in Budapest on Thursday.
At an event greeting newly appointed directors to public schools, Zoltan Maruzsa said the government measure would eliminate the dearth of work force and enable that teachers focus even more on their professional tasks.
Numbers of admissions into higher education indicated that recruitment problems in the sector would be soon resolved, Maruzsa said. Teacher training was among the most popular at this year’s university applications. Since many have chosen “short-cycle trainings”, many of the students will be in the labour market within 1-1.5 years, he said.
