Government earmarks HUF 3.7 billion for upgrades at border crossings with Serbia
The government has allocated HUF 3.7bn in funding to the National Tax and Customs Authority (NAV) for upgrades and staff increases at border crossing stations with Serbia, the Finance Ministry said on Wednesday.
The upgrades will take place in several steps between 2024 and 2026, reducing waiting times. Headcount at the Roszke border crossing will rise by 78, and 125 staff will be added at the Tompa and Hercegszanto crossings.
From 2026, the government is allocating a further HUF 1.9bn for NAV’s base funding, the ministry said.
