Government contributes bus fleet to Budapest public transport modernisation
The central government has contributed 64 eco buses to help Budapest modernise its public transport bus fleet, the Prime Minister's Office state secretary for Budapest developments said on Saturday.
The air-conditioned buses supported with a 3.2 billion forint state grant were all put in service in the city, Balazs Furjes said on Facebook.
He announced on October 27 that the central government had contributed to the purchase of a fleet of low-floor, AC Mercedes-Benz Conecto G articulated buses for Budapest.
Furjes also said on Saturday that the central government has allocated another 12 billion forints towards the continued modernisation of Budapest’s public transport and a further 200 billion forints (EUR 559m) for the upgrade of the city’s 3rd metro line.
