Frolich appointed chief rabbi
Hungary's Jewish federation Mazsihisz has confirmed that Robert Frolich, the leader of the country's largest synagogue in Budapest's Dohany Street, has been appointed Hungarian chief rabbi.
Frolich was first appointed chief rabbi in 2015 and resigned in 2018. The post has been unfilled since.
The general assembly of Mazsihisz confirmed his appointment at an online meeting with 47 votes in favour, 7 against and 9 abstentions.
Mazsihisz head Andras Heisler congratulated Frolich and said he hoped for a good cooperation to “create peace and calm within the community”.
