Flood raises salary levels

The floods are having an impact: State water management employees will receive 30% more pay from 1 January.

The energy minister responsible for the water sector announced this decision at the weekend via social media. Csaba Lantos announced that employees in the water industry would receive a total of 60% more pay over the next three years. This would involve three wage increases: half of this amount on 1 January 2025, a further 12% a year later and a further 10% at the beginning of 2027.

These are, of course, average increases, with the new ‘dynamic salary scale’ intended to give managers scope to reward those specialists who are indispensable in flood protection and water management.
